“Let Me See the Real You” was inspired by the idea that so many people spend their lives hiding parts of themselves out of fear of judgment or rejection. I think we all reach a point where we realize that constantly trying to fit expectations can become emotionally exhausting. The song came from wanting to encourage people to let their guard down and feel safe enough to be fully seen.
Personally, I’ve experienced moments where I felt pressure to appear strong or put together even when life was difficult underneath the surface. Over time, I realized authenticity creates much deeper connections than perfection ever could. That emotional honesty became the heart of this song. I wanted it to feel uplifting, vulnerable, and empowering all at once
Your debut EP Turning Pages introduced listeners to your artistic identity in a meaningful way. Looking back now, how do you feel that project prepared you for this next chapter, and in what ways do you feel your sound and storytelling have evolved since then?
Turning Pages was a very important project for me because it represented growth, healing, and stepping into my voice more confidently as an artist. That EP gave me the opportunity to explore emotional storytelling in a very personal way, and it helped me understand the kind of artist I truly want to be.
Since then, I feel my sound has evolved into something even more honest and intentional. I’ve become more comfortable embracing vulnerability while also creating music that feels uplifting and relatable.Sonically, I think there’s more confidence and emotional depth in the newer music. I’m learning to trust simplicity and authenticity instead of overthinking every detail
As a mother of five, including two sets of twins, your life experiences are uniquely layered. How has motherhood shaped not only your perspective as a person, but also the emotional honesty and maturity that come through so strongly in your songwriting?
Motherhood has completely changed the way I see the world and the way I connect emotionally to people.Raising five children, especially two sets of twins, has taught me patience, resilience, empathy, and unconditional love in ways I never could have imagined.
It’s also made me more emotionally aware and more honest with myself. When you’re a mother, life becomes very real very quickly. You learn that vulnerability isn’t weakness — it’s strength. I think that perspective naturally carries into my songwriting because I want my music to reflect genuine human emotion rather than perfection. My experiences as a mother have made me appreciate authenticity, connection, and emotional depth on a much greater level.
The visuals surrounding your music often feel cinematic and carefully intentional. When creating visual concepts for songs like “Let Me See the Real You,” how do you approach translating emotion into imagery that strengthens the listener’s connection to the story?
For me, visuals are an extension of the emotion in the music. I always want the imagery to feel natural, relatable, and emotionally honest rather than overly polished or disconnected from the message of the song.
With “Let Me See the Real You,” I focused on creating visuals that felt intimate and human. I wanted people to feel like they were seeing real moments rather than something overly staged. I’m very intentional about expressions, lighting, movement, and even small details because those elements can communicate emotion without words. I think visuals are most powerful when they help people emotionally step inside the story of the song.
Vulnerability is often difficult to express, especially through art that reaches such a wide audience. When writing songs that are deeply personal, how do you balance emotional transparency with protecting parts of yourself that remain private?
I think there’s a balance between being emotionally truthful and sharing every detail of your personal life. For me, songwriting is less about exposing specific situations and more about expressing emotions people can relate to universally.
I try to write from an honest emotional place while still keeping certain experiences sacred or private. The goal is never to overshare — it’s to create connection. Sometimes the feelings behind a song are very personal, but the way they’re expressed allows listeners to apply them to their own lives and experiences. That balance helps me stay authentic while still protecting my peace
Every artist faces moments of uncertainty while building their career. During times when self doubt or challenges arise, what keeps you grounded and motivated to continue creating and pushing your artistry forward?
I think every creative person experiences moments of doubt, especially in an industry that can feel unpredictable at times. What keeps me grounded is remembering why I started making music in the first place. For me, it has always been about connection, emotion, and creating something meaningful.
My family also keeps me grounded. Being a mother gives me perspective and reminds me not to base my worth entirely on external validation. I stay motivated by focusing on growth rather than perfection and by reminding myself that every step forward matters, even the small ones. The ability to create and connect through music is something I never want to take for granted
The music industry is constantly changing, especially for independent artists navigating their own path. What do you believe has been the most valuable lesson you have learned so far about sustaining both creativity and resilience in this space?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of staying authentic to who you are instead of constantly chasing trends or comparing your journey to others. As an independent artist, resilience is incredibly important because growth often happens gradually and requires patience.
I’ve also learned that consistency matters more than perfection. There are always going to be ups and downs, but continuing to create, evolve, and believe in your vision is what ultimately builds longevity.Protecting your creativity and mental well-being is just as important as promoting the music itself.
Your music feels incredibly relatable because it speaks to universal emotions and experiences. When you sit down to write, do you consciously think about how listeners might connect with your story, or is your process more personal and instinctive?
My writing process is usually very instinctive and emotion-driven. I typically start from a real feeling or emotional moment rather than thinking strategically about how people will respond.
At the same time, I do think universal connection naturally happens when you’re honest. Most people have experienced insecurity, love, self-doubt, hope, or the desire to be accepted for who they truly are. I think listeners connect most deeply when music feels genuine rather than manufactured, so I try to stay emotionally present while writing and trust that honesty will resonate.
As your fanbase continues to grow, how has connecting with listeners impacted your understanding of your purpose as an artist, and has their response influenced your creative direction in any way?
Connecting with listeners has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey. Hearing that a song helped someone feel understood or emotionally connected reminds me why music matters so much.
Their response has reinforced my desire to continue creating music that is emotionally honest and uplifting.It’s shown me that people are craving authenticity and real connection. While I always want to grow creatively and evolve sonically, I never want to lose the emotional sincerity that allows listeners to genuinely relate to the music.
Looking toward the future, what kind of artistic legacy do you hope to leave behind, and what do you ultimately want people to feel, understand, or carry with them after experiencing your music?
I hope my music leaves people feeling seen, understood, and encouraged to embrace who they truly are.More than anything, I want my work to create emotional connection and remind people that vulnerability and authenticity are powerful, not something to hide from.
As an artist, I want to leave behind music that feels timeless emotionally — songs that people can return to during different seasons of their lives and still connect with. If listeners walk away feeling a little more hopeful, empowered, or emotionally understood after hearing my music, then I feel like I’ve accomplished something meaningful.
