Erika Hartgrove Embraces Intuition and Artistic Freedom on “Wild Abandoning”

There is a particular kind of freedom that comes from no longer feeling the need to control every part of your journey. It is the freedom to trust your instincts, accept the uncertainty of life, and move forward without abandoning who you are. On “Wild Abandoning,” independent singer, songwriter, dancer and producer Erika Hartgrove explores that feeling through an atmospheric alternative R&B experience that is as emotionally expressive as it is deeply personal.

Released under Primordial Vibrations, the independent record label and creative entity Hartgrove founded in 2026, “Wild Abandoning” presents music as an extension of personal autonomy. Rather than treating freedom as an excuse to escape responsibility, the track approaches it as a conscious decision to embrace life, intuition and possibility. That distinction gives the song a meaningful emotional foundation, allowing its message to reach beyond the usual ideas of rebellion or self-discovery.

The opening lyrics immediately establish that sense of inner recognition:

    “Life is this way oh
When I feel the need to change oh”

There is something wonderfully direct about these lines. They capture the moment when change begins as a feeling before it becomes a decision. Hartgrove does not overcomplicate the idea. Life moves, circumstances shift, and sometimes the heart knows that a new direction is necessary. The repetition gives the words a natural, almost meditative quality, allowing the message to settle gently rather than arrive as a dramatic declaration.

Hartgrove’s musical identity is rooted in what she describes as high-frequency soundscapes, organic instrumentation and unfiltered vocal expression. Those elements provide an intriguing framework for a song built around surrendering to the natural movement of life. The organic percussion establishes a grounded pulse, while the ethereal layers create an expansive atmosphere that feels open, fluid and almost dreamlike.

There is a sense of movement in the way these elements come together. The music seems to encourage the listener to loosen their grip, breathe a little deeper and allow emotion to exist without needing to explain everything. That quality is especially fitting for a song whose central philosophy revolves around trusting the journey.

“When the heart says the same oh” deepens that feeling. It suggests a connection between what life is presenting and what the heart already understands. In a world where people often look outside themselves for answers, the song encourages a different kind of listening. It is an invitation to pay attention to that quiet inner voice.

    Then comes the beautiful refrain:

    “Love is taking me”

Repeated twice, the line feels like a surrender to something greater than fear. Love here can be understood as self-love, spiritual connection, or the force that gives us the courage to move forward. Whatever the listener hears in it, the simplicity makes the refrain emotionally accessible. It is the kind of phrase that can mean something different depending on where you are in life.

The repeated “Ready, I’m ready / I’m so ready ooo” introduces a new energy. After the reflection comes acceptance. Hartgrove sounds as though she is standing at the edge of a new chapter, no longer asking whether she should move, but preparing herself to do so. The vocal repetition reinforces the feeling of readiness, creating a moment that feels personal and almost ceremonial.

The song’s most striking lyrical turn arrives with:

    “This is a wild abandoning
    To leave dysfunction choosing me
Expose the lies for all to see
Maybe I’ll fly with no landing”

These lines give the title its full emotional weight. “Wild Abandoning” becomes an act of releasing the patterns, circumstances and false narratives that have been allowed to take up too much space. “To leave dysfunction choosing me” is especially powerful because it suggests a refusal to continue accepting situations that define or diminish you.

There is also a clear sense of confrontation in “Expose the lies for all to see.” The song moves beyond quiet reflection into a declaration of truth. Yet Hartgrove’s approach remains connected to the wider theme of freedom. The goal is not simply to expose what is false, but to stop allowing falsehood to determine the direction of your life.

Her approach to music also reflects her wider artistic vision. Through Primordial Vibrations, Hartgrove is building a creative identity centred on ownership, artistic freedom and the ability to shape her own narrative. That independence adds context to “Wild Abandoning,” but the song remains compelling because its emotional message stands on its own.

What makes the track particularly interesting is its understanding of surrender. There is nothing inherently reckless about allowing life to unfold. Sometimes, the courage to stop fighting every change is what makes genuine growth possible. “Wild Abandoning” captures that idea through an atmosphere that feels both grounding and liberating.

For listeners drawn to alternative R&B, atmospheric soul and music that prioritizes feeling over formula, Erika Hartgrove offers an experience worth exploring. Her sound is personal, her creative direction is intentional, and her willingness to embrace unfiltered expression gives the record a distinctive character.

“Wild Abandoning” is ultimately a reminder that freedom does not always mean knowing exactly where life is taking you. Sometimes, it means trusting yourself enough to take the next step.

With this release, Erika Hartgrove invites listeners to do precisely that: surrender to possibility, follow their intuition, and remain fully themselves along the way.
