    Exclusive Interview With Alekxander

Alekxander is proving that some of the best pop songs don’t always begin in a recording studio. Sometimes, they start with an ordinary moment, a catchy phrase, and the courage to trust creative instinct. His latest single, High Fashion Lip Gloss, was born from a playful moment in front of a mirror but quickly evolved into a vibrant dance-pop anthem celebrating confidence, individuality, and the freedom to embrace life’s lighter side. Written in just ten minutes and produced entirely under Alekxander’s creative direction, the track reflects his hands-on approach to songwriting, recording, vocal production, and editing, demonstrating that compelling pop music can be crafted far from the traditional studio system.

Behind the infectious hooks and glamorous energy lies an artist driven by authenticity and an unwavering commitment to creative independence. Drawing inspiration from the storytelling brilliance of Taylor Swift and the fearless reinvention of Cher, Alekxander has built an artistic identity that values originality over conformity and emotional honesty over industry expectations. Whether he’s transforming everyday experiences into unforgettable melodies or experimenting across genres, his music is rooted in real-life moments, humor, resilience, and self-expression.

In this exclusive interview with Spinex Music, Alekxander opens up about the surprising inspiration behind High Fashion Lip Gloss, how living with ADHD influences his songwriting process, the rewards and challenges of producing music entirely from home, and why staying true to himself remains the foundation of everything he creates. He also reflects on the importance of authenticity in today’s music industry, his evolving artistic vision, and the legacy he hopes to build by making music entirely on his own terms.

“High Fashion Lip Gloss” was inspired by a completely unexpected moment that became a finished song in just ten minutes. Looking back, what was it about that spontaneous idea that made you trust your instincts and follow it all the way to completion?

Honestly, I have to be completely real about it: having ADHD means my brain works in very specific ways, and sometimes an idea just gets stuck on repeat in my mind. That phrase kept looping, and it snowballed into this immediate urge where I thought, ‘I have to sit down and write this right now.’ I had no idea where it was going at first—I just knew it was about lip gloss! Once my brain starts firing like that, I have to dump every single thought onto paper immediately and then piece the puzzle together after.

The song celebrates confidence, glamour, and having fun without taking itself too seriously. Beyond the infectious hook, what message or feeling were you hoping listeners would experience when they press play?

It’s all about realizing that it’s okay to just be yourself, because that’s the only person I know how to be! I’m goofy, I’m funny, I love to make people laugh, and I don’t take myself too seriously. If anything, I hope listeners take away that it’s okay to let loose, embrace your most unique, authentic self, and just dance through life like no one is watching. There’s a time to be serious, but for the rest of it, you have to laugh and just be you. Life is way too short to try to be anyone else.

Many artists spend weeks polishing a song before it’s finished, but this one came together almost instantly. Do you think your strongest ideas come from spontaneity, and how do you know when a first idea is worth keeping?

Absolutely. My strongest ideas definitely start with that spontaneous spark. I honestly don’t throw anything away. Whether it’s a quick note on a scrap of paper or a random thought typed into my phone—are they organized? Absolutely not! But I don’t believe in trash-canning ideas. I know it’s all in the back of my mind somewhere, and if I ever need a spark, I just scroll through my notes to refresh my brain. That’s the beauty of songwriting: there are no bad ideas. Something that doesn’t fit today might be the exact missing piece for a song a year down the road. Every single idea has value; it’s just about finding the right time and place for it.

You handle every stage of the creative process yourself, from songwriting and recording to vocal production and editing. How has being completely self-sufficient shaped your confidence and artistic identity?

I’ll be honest: it’s a lot of hard work. There are days where I’m exhausted and days where I feel totally done with it, but it’s my absolute drive for music that keeps me going. While it would definitely be easier to have a team around me, it would still have to be my call at the end of the day. I want to steer my own ship. So many artists walk into a studio and lose control over their own vision because people who weren’t part of the creation try to insert themselves.

The higher-ups often think they know best, but they didn’t write the song, and they aren’t the ones singing it. Being self-sufficient means keeping total creative control so the music remains 100% true to who I am.

Creating polished dance-pop from your living room proves that creativity isn’t limited by expensive studios. What have been the biggest advantages and challenges of producing music entirely from home?

The best part of working from home is that you have complete comfort and control over your space—you know how your setup sounds, and you’re in your own element. The hardest part, though, is doing it entirely alone. I would love to have a second set of ears sitting next to me—someone who really knows what they’re doing, who can voice an honest opinion, and whom I can collaborate with naturally.

But the biggest key is trust. Whether you’re in a high-end commercial studio or sitting in your living room, if you can’t completely trust the person sitting beside you to respect your vision, it just won’t work. Finding that right, trusted collaborator is the real challenge.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Cher’s dance records are two very different influences that both helped shape your sound. What lessons have you taken from those artists, and how do you translate them into music that feels unmistakably your own?

Both are incredibly strong, successful artists, but in different ways. Taylor Swift is a master storyteller from start to finish—she knows how to construct a narrative like nobody else. Cher, on the other hand—what can I even say? She’s a legend, and someone I’ve looked up to ever since I was six years old. I love her ‘take-no-prisoners’ attitude, her boundaries, and the way she bends the rules—or just completely bypasses them if they don’t work for her.

Cher once described herself as being like a bumper car: if she hits a wall, she just backs up and goes in a different direction. I relate to that so much. I’ve heard ‘no’ my entire life, so when you finally get that ‘yes,’ it’s an amazing feeling. Look at what she did with Believe—she broke all the rules again and created the biggest hit of her career. Her dance music is so unique and fun, and taking that bold, resilient mindset into my own music is how I make it my own.

Pop music often reflects everyday life in unexpected ways. What does “High Fashion Lip Gloss” reveal about your personality that fans might not immediately notice from simply hearing the song?

At the end of the day, it reveals that I’m just a human being who was literally standing in front of a mirror, putting on Dior lip gloss, and singing ‘High Fashion Lip Gloss’ over and over again! Who hasn’t sung to themselves in the mirror, in the shower, or in their car? We all have those spontaneous sparks.

Growing up, I used to view celebrities like they weren’t even human, until I actually met some and realized, ‘Wow, they do normal everyday stuff just like me—they can’t fly!’ I’m definitely not comparing myself to a massive celebrity, but the point is we’re all human. Beneath the track, I’m just a quirky, crazy, fun-loving, and caring guy standing in front of his mirror having a moment.

As an independent artist, social media gives you the opportunity to connect directly with listeners. How important is authenticity in today’s music industry, and how do you balance creating entertaining content with staying true to yourself?

I’m going to keep it completely real: I’m not a big social media person. I don’t have Facebook or Instagram—I strictly stick to TikTok and Snapchat. When I do post, it’s just me in my truest form, being goofy or sharing something about my music.

Social media is such a double-edged sword. There’s so much divisiveness and so much that feels fake, but there’s also a lot of good. You see people genuinely searching for where they belong, and that can be a beautiful thing.

For me, it’s not about constantly posting just to feed an algorithm; it’s about real impact. Whether it’s connecting with a fan or having a song lyric touch someone’s life, if I can help or lift up even just one person, then I’ve succeeded. I try not to get caught up in the noise and just focus on using those platforms to share good energy and connect authentically.

Every artist has a song that feels like a breakthrough. Do you see “High Fashion Lip Gloss” as the moment that defines this chapter of your career, or is it just the beginning of a much bigger vision?

If this song takes off and becomes my big moment, that would be amazing—and I’m 100% okay with that! I’ve never understood artists who regret their own songs. At the end of the day, I wrote it, I sang it, and I released it. If I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t have put it out. If ‘High Fashion Lip Gloss’ ends up being the track people know me by, that’s completely cool with me.

That said, there is definitely so much more to me as an artist. All of my songs are autobiographical—they’re either about experiences I’ve lived through, things I’ve talked about, or people I know personally. Some are funny, some are serious, and some are sad. Every song tells a real story, whether I decide to drop a dance-pop track today or experiment with a completely different genre tomorrow. It’s all about keeping listeners on their toes and creating whatever I’m inspired to express in the moment.

As your audience continues to grow, what kind of legacy do you hope Alekxander builds in the pop world, and what can fans expect from the next chapter of your musical journey?

I hope the legacy of Alekxander is that I never altered, wavered, or succumbed to industry standards. I did it on my terms, my way, without ever settling. That’s the most important advice I could give anyone in life: never settle, don’t give up, and as long as you have breath in you, keep going.

As for what fans can expect next—I honestly can’t tell you, because I don’t even know yet! When I say I’m inspired by anything, I mean anything. Today it’s ‘High Fashion Lip Gloss,’ tomorrow it might be a tear-jerking country anthem, and the next day it could be a brutal, heart-wrenching ballad. That’s the beauty of how my mind works—I love mashing up different genres. Give me a killer dance beat mixed with a fiddle, a banjo, and some synth, and I’m in heaven! No matter what direction I go next, fans can always expect a great story, a good beat, and something unmistakably genuine.
