Alt-pop artist Robin Cisek is turning pain into power with the release of her self-directed video for “Rumor”, a deeply personal track from her latest album Tempered. The visual takes aim at the emotional toll of online hate and misinformation — and does so with clarity, creativity, and courage.
Shot, edited, and conceptualized entirely by Cisek herself, the video is minimal in setup but rich in meaning. One of the most striking visuals shows a phone held in front of her mouth, playing lips that sync to the lyrics — a symbolic take on how others can try to control your voice, twist your words, or erase your truth in the digital age.
“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” Cisek shares. “So many people hide behind screens to spread rumors or tear others down. I wanted to create something that shows the impact of that — but also reminds others they’re not alone.”
“Rumor” appears on Tempered, Cisek’s independently released sophomore album, which dropped on May 30. Written entirely by Cisek and produced largely from her home studio, the project is a bold step forward in both sound and self-expression. “Rumor” in particular stands out for its emotional honesty and its sonic restraint — a slow burn that simmers with tension.
With Tempered and now the “Rumor” video, Robin Cisek continues to carve out a space that’s entirely her own — one that blends raw vulnerability with sharp creative direction. The video isn’t just a reaction to internet toxicity; it’s a reminder that reclaiming your voice is the most powerful response of all.
