There was a time when Disney Channel premieres felt almost magical. In 2006, millions of young viewers tuned in to watch the launch of Hannah Montana, where a young Miley Cyrus brought Miley Stewart to life. She played a teenager juggling school life with the thrill of secretly being a pop star, and audiences connected instantly.
With the twentieth anniversary coming up in January, Cyrus has reassured fans that she is planning a meaningful celebration.
“I am definitely in the works on something,” she said on Good Morning America during the global premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 1. “A lot of my time right now is being spent on how I can honor Hannah in such a special celebration for us all.”
Nothing official has been announced yet, but she did put one rumor to rest. When asked about a reboot starring someone new, Cyrus told Billboard News, “This is the only Hannah.” Fans online have already begun speculating about reunion specials or anniversary events.
Hannah Montana aired until January 2011, becoming one of Disney Channel’s most iconic shows. It led to hit albums, a concert movie, a feature film, and countless childhood memories. Since then, Cyrus has built an impressive music career, winning three Grammy Awards and earning worldwide success with singles like “Flowers.” She was honored as a Disney Legend in 2024, becoming the youngest to receive the recognition.
