Rising grunge-pop artist Gabby Rivers has officially released her long-awaited EP What Is the Problem?, arriving on 5 February and marking a defining moment in her creative journey. The Suffolk-based soloist, already a familiar name across the South of England, uses this release to step firmly into a sharper, more alternative-rock-driven sound.

Across seven punchy tracks, the EP leans into distorted basslines, fuzzy guitars, and a raw, garage-grunge edge that feels both intentional and reinvigorated. Gabby pairs this heavier sonic palette with hook-filled melodies and unfiltered lyricism, creating a project that balances intensity with accessibility. From the explosive, coming-of-age energy of Dig Me to the simmering tension of Lipstick Karma and the dark bite of the title track, the EP captures an artist fully locked into her vision.

Gabby describes the project as the result of a necessary pause. After releasing her 2023 EP, she took much of 2024 to step back, write, and reassess her artistic identity. That space allowed her to process personal betrayals, complicated relationships, and emotional fallout, ultimately transforming those experiences into music. The result is an EP that feels cathartic, focused, and deeply honest.

With sold-out shows, major festival appearances, and growing national recognition behind her, What Is the Problem? solidifies Gabby Rivers as one of East Anglia’s most compelling alternative voices.
