For a while, it looked like Don’t Be Dumb might never escape the cloud of delays and bad press. Now, everything is shifting. A$AP Rocky’s long-awaited album has officially passed half a million pre-saves on Spotify, proving that fans never really let go of hope.
Earlier in the rollout, reports painted a gloomy picture, with claims that the album had only managed a few thousand physical pre-orders before many were canceled in 2024. Fast forward to now, and the energy has completely changed. Numbers shared by Hip Hop All Day show the album closing in on 500,000 Spotify pre-saves, placing it near the very top of the platform’s most anticipated projects.
Right now, only a few albums sit above it, including upcoming releases from Joji, Gorillaz, and Charli XCX. Don’t Be Dumb has even overtaken Kanye West’s BULLY in the race, which says a lot about how much attention Rocky has managed to reclaim.
What makes this more impressive is that these stats only reflect Spotify activity. Once Apple Music and other services are factored in, the full level of interest could be massive.
After such a long and uncertain build-up, the real question is whether the album can turn this digital hype into strong opening week numbers and, more importantly, deliver creatively. But at this point, one thing is undeniable. A$AP Rocky is back in the conversation, and Don’t Be Dumb is finally getting the respect it deserves.
