TuneCore is entering a new chapter following a major leadership change at the Believe-owned distribution company. Andreea Gleeson has announced that she is stepping down from her role as CEO of TuneCore and transitioning into a Strategic Advisor position at Believe, the platform’s parent company.
The news was shared in an internal memo to staff on Wednesday, January 14, where Gleeson described the move as a mutual and carefully planned decision. After spending a decade with TuneCore, she explained that both she and Believe agreed the timing was right for a transition, with the company now firmly positioned for continued growth.
Rather than stepping away entirely, Gleeson will remain closely involved, supporting Believe’s executive leadership in an advisory capacity. According to her memo, the decision was driven by a shared belief that her experience could have the greatest impact by helping guide the wider group through its next phase.
The leadership change takes effect immediately and has been framed as a planned transition, not a sudden departure. TuneCore’s leadership will continue under the oversight of Romain Vivien, Believe’s Global Head of Music, alongside senior executives including Chief Revenue Officer Brian Miller and Chief Technology and Product Officer Luxi Huang.
Gleeson became CEO of TuneCore in 2021 and played a key role in reshaping the company during her tenure. Under her leadership, TuneCore expanded its global reach, modernized its platform, and evolved beyond basic distribution into artist development. One of the most notable initiatives during this period was the launch of TuneCore Accelerator in 2023, which gives independent artists access to promotional and marketing opportunities across major digital platforms.
Reflecting on her time at the company, Gleeson described leading TuneCore as one of the most meaningful chapters of her career. She credited the team for transforming the business and staying true to an artist-first mission focused on independence and long-term success.
Looking ahead, Gleeson emphasized that TuneCore’s core mission remains unchanged. The platform will continue to empower independent artists to succeed on their own terms, while increasingly tapping into Believe’s global infrastructure to help creators grow internationally.
The leadership update follows recent news that TuneCore’s self-releasing artists have earned more than $5 billion through the platform since its launch in 2006, underscoring the scale and momentum of the business as it moves into its next phase.
While her role may be changing, Gleeson made it clear that her commitment to TuneCore and its community remains strong. As she told staff, TuneCore will always be a part of who she is, and she looks forward to seeing what the team builds next.
