Ally Evenson – The Line (Official Music Video): Indie-alternative artist Ally Evenson returns with “The Line”, a quirky and addictive new track that combines country charm with the pulse of drum and bass. Released via Assemble Sound/Atlantic Records and premiered on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 show, the song introduces a bold sonic direction for Evenson as she continues to evolve her sound.
Created with longtime collaborator nydge, “The Line” started off as a lighthearted experiment. “It was originally made as a joke,” Evenson explains. “But once we finished it, we realized it was actually really cool. It’s still kind of funny, but it’s also a serious track in its own way. A country D&B song about intrusive thoughts.”
The single arrives with a surreal music video that taps into body horror visuals and adds an unexpected layer to the story. According to Evenson, the video serves as a loose prequel to her debut album BLUE SUPER LOVE. “I’ve always loved body horror and acting,” she says. “I joked about eating the blue hat I always wear, and thought it would be interesting to symbolize a new chapter by throwing it up. It just made sense to me.”
From her beginnings in Port Huron, Michigan, to her growing presence in Detroit’s music scene, Ally Evenson has built a reputation for fearless songwriting and sonic experimentation. Her previous releases, including In My Dreams, You Laugh at Me and the EP Not So Pretty, earned critical praise from outlets like Pitchfork and Pigeons & Planes.
“The Line” is not just a fun blend of unexpected genres, it also marks the start of a new era for Evenson. With a unique sound, sharp visuals, and an honest approach to creativity, she continues to stand out as one of indie pop’s most exciting voices.
