Adidas Removes Yeezy References After Kanye West’s Instagram Accusations

Adidas has swiftly responded to Kanye West’s recent accusations by removing all Yeezy-related content from its website. This move came after West publicly called out the brand on Instagram, accusing them of continuing to profit from his designs despite the end of their partnership.

In a post on Tuesday, West expressed frustration over Adidas’ ongoing use of Yeezy products, claiming the brand was making moves to undermine him. “Stop doing this. Stop doing your moves to hold me back. Our partnership is done,” he stated.

The following day, Adidas acted quickly by removing all Yeezy-related product pages, news articles, and images from their website, signaling their intent to comply with West’s demands. This aligns with the company’s earlier commitment to severing ties with Yeezy by the end of 2024. In an October 2024 press conference, Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden affirmed that the brand was ready to move on: “There [aren’t] any more open issues. And there is no money going either way. There were tensions on many issues [but] both parties said we don’t need to fight any more… [It] belongs in the past.”

Adidas had initially distanced itself from West in 2022 after his anti-Semitic remarks caused widespread condemnation. The brand ended its partnership with the rapper, condemning his statements in a formal statement. Despite this, Gulden later suggested in a 2023 podcast interview that he believed West’s controversial comments might not have been intentional: “I don’t think he meant what he said and I don’t think he’s a bad person. It just came off that way… I think Kanye West is one of the most creative people in the world.”

This latest development further highlights Adidas’ determination to move away from its tumultuous relationship with Kanye West and Yeezy, as the company seeks to distance itself from the controversy and move forward into a new chapter.
