Cable Boy Announce Debut Album Forever and Share New Single ‘Something In My Head’

Dublin-based five-piece Cable Boy have announced their highly anticipated debut album, Forever, set for release on April 17th, alongside the reveal of its first single, ‘Something In My Head’, arriving January 16th.

Already building a reputation as one of Ireland’s most exciting new acts, Cable Boy are moving quickly to capitalise on the growing buzz around their sound. Forever captures the band at a creative peak, showcasing a prolific and fearless approach to songwriting that blends urgency, maturity, and experimentation across the record.

Produced by Adam Shanahan, David Tapley, and Cable Boy themselves, lead single ‘Something In My Head’ introduces the band in their most focused and assured form yet. Cool-headed but volatile, the track balances melodic restraint with sudden bursts of intensity, leaning into a fuzzier, shoegaze-inspired sound reminiscent of bdrmm and DIIV.

Driven by propulsive guitars, hypnotic rhythms, and a detached vocal delivery, the track stands in contrast to the band’s more ethereal, dream-pop-leaning material. ‘Something In My Head’ captures a tension between calm and chaos—a sense of holding composure while everything threatens to unravel. Lyrically, it explores survival, emotional detachment, and the numbing repetition of modern life, continuing Cable Boy’s ability to pair introspection with raw physical energy.

Speaking about the single, the band explain:

“Something In My Head is about watching and absorbing life-changing news and several atrocities every day on every single social media app and feed, while feeling powerless to do anything but watch, donate, and boycott.

The chorus is a response to the verse: ‘I can be cool just where I am, weather is cooler where I stand, keeping it cool, that’s who I am’—a tongue-in-cheek comment on how we absorb these things as artists; being aware, but also not really doing anything.”

Formed by school friends Semilore Olusa and Liam Murray, Cable Boy have steadily evolved since their dreamy 2019 EP WHOLE. Following 2020, the band expanded with the addition of Corneille Tshibasu, Jason Aikhionbare, and Fionn McLoughlin, pushing their sound into darker, heavier territory—a shoegaze-leaning hybrid they describe as goth disco.

Known for their visceral and immersive live performances, Cable Boy have already made their mark on some of Ireland’s most respected stages and festivals, including Electric Picnic, Beyond the Pale, Forbidden Fruit, Other Voices in Dingle, and Vicar Street. Alongside this, they’ve received strong support from Irish media, with airplay and coverage from RTÉ 2fm, Today FM, Hot Press, Golden Plec, Nialler9, and more.

With Forever on the horizon and ‘Something In My Head’ setting the tone, Cable Boy are firmly establishing themselves as a band ready to leave a lasting mark on Ireland’s alternative music landscape.
